The Magic Flute, Part Two: A Film in Pieces was made with Michel Auder from footage recorded during the rehearsals and performance of The Magic Flute Part One: An Opera in 6 Steps. Rather than treating the material as documentation of the opera, we broke it apart and reorganized it across eight looping video projections installed throughout NYU’s 80WSE Gallery. Images, gestures, performances, objects, and incidental moments repeat and reappear from different points of view, turning the original performance into a fragmented film installation.
